Douglas Wiseman, MD

Dr. Douglas Wiseman is an endocrine surgeon at the top of his field in endocrine surgery serving patients locally in Chicago and receiving patients nationwide for consultation and surgical management of many endocrinopathies.  The most common surgeries performed are for the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands.  He also evaluates patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, paraganglioma, carotid body tumors, and other neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and determines if surgery is the best plan of care.

Dr. Wiseman completed a two year fellowship in endocrine surgery at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD and has been entirely focused on the surgical management of endocrine organs for many  years.  An endocrine surgeon is the only type of surgeon that has fellowship surgical training solely focused on the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, endocrine pancreas, and other neuroendocrine tumors found throughout the body.  There are other types of surgeons that may claim they can perform the surgery you need however unless they have completed an endocrine surgery fellowship there may be deficiencies in the care they provide for your specific endocrine disease or cancer.
